Veterans Plaza Design Plan Report

Tree Removal InformationThe City of Tualatin planted over 2,700 trees, native plants and shrubs over the past year, throughout our community. We anticipate a similar number of plantings in the year ahead and each year into the future. We’re committed to, and pride ourselves on fulfilling our commitments as Tree City USA and our Climate and Natural areas goals, while also managing unhealthy and hazardous trees within our many acres of parks and natural areas throughout the City.

The east side of Tualatin Commons surface and landscape are at end of lifespan and in need of renovation. When certified arborist identifies diseased, rotting, poor condition or end of lifespan trees in parks and public plazas they are removed. Trees at Tualatin Commons will be replanted along with vegetation that is drought tolerant and climate resilient. A new smart irrigation system is expected to keep the trees in good condition and prevent disease. The City prides itself as a Tree City USA, and follows international arboriculture standards while managing Tualatin’s community forest.

Next Steps: We are excited to share Paul Brothers Inc. was selected for the construction phase of this project and the east side of the plaza is currently under construction. The project will be substantially completed in the fall of 2024 (by Pumpkin Regatta).
