Mayors Note April
Arbor Month
The Tualatin community has long seen the health of our tree canopy as vital to our sense of well-being and as a defining characteristic of our community. Trees provide so many benefits; they clean air, create shade, provide habitat, and create beautiful spaces for us to enjoy. The National Arbor Day Foundation has designated Tualatin as a Tree City USA for thirty-seven years.
Every year, the City Council proclaims April "Arbor Month" in Tualatin, and we celebrate all month long with a variety of programs.
- Arbor Month Kids' Poster Contest
- "Tualatin Trees" Photo Contest
- Tualatin Historical Society's 3rd Annual Poetry Contest
- Smokey Bear Reading Challenge at Tualatin Public Library
- Tree Planting at Atfalati Park on April 6
- Invasive Plants Work Party at Brown's Ferry Park on April 19
- Old Salmon River Trail Hike with the Juanita Pohl Center on April 26
I invite you to join one of our programs, enjoy winning art from our community, and to take a moment to appreciate the marvels and utility of trees. Happy Arbor Month!
