Overview

The 65th and Borland Rd Intersection Improvement Project aims to enhance traffic safety and alleviate congestion at the intersection of SW 65th Avenue and SW Borland Road near Meridian Park Hospital. Key improvements include the addition of a northbound right turn lane, as well as measures to improve overall traffic flow and safety. The design phase began in July 2024, with design and permitting set to complete by late 2025.  The project is scheduled to be bid in early 2026 for construction during the spring or summer. The project is crucial to alleviating congestion affecting over 30,000 people daily and enhancing access to vital community services, including the area hospital.

 

What’s Planned?

Project improvements include:

  • Addition of a northbound right-turn lane at the intersection of SW 65th Avenue and SW Borland Road.

  • Enhanced traffic flow improvements to reduce delays and improve efficiency. 

  • Upgrades to traffic safety measures at the intersection.

  • Improved pedestrian accessibility and walkability around the intersection.

     

When?

On-site Data Collection:  July 2024 - September 2024

Design and Permitting:  July 2024 - Late 2025

Construction:  Anticipated to commence in Spring/Summer 2026, with completion by Fall 2026
