Makerspace Project - Stencils for Face Painting: The Makerspace theme for the month of October is Halloween CostumesCome in all month long during our Open Lab hours to learn how to cut stencils on our Silhouettes for face painting (or pumpkin carving), use our sewing machines to make costumes, and make clay or 3D printed accessories. For all ages.

Makerspace Open Labs are held on the following weekly schedule:

  • Sundays1:30 PM - 5:30 PM (new extended hours!)
  • Tuesdays, 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM 
  • Thursdays, 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM 
  • Saturdays10:00 AM - 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM (new extended hours!)

There will be no Open Lab on Sunday, October 16.

Shrunken Regatta: The Shrunken Regatta: It's back, and it's as tiny as ever! In case you didn't participate last year, the Shrunken Regatta is a miniature pumpkin decorating contest. Swing by the library to grab your take-home kit that contains a pumpkin, a paint set and a sign-up slip. Decorate your pumpkin however you wish, and bring it back to hang out in our fun, interactive regatta display. On October 14th, we'll pick our three favorites pumpkins, and the artists will each receive a $25 Visa gift card!

The Shrunken Regatta runs from September 24th through October 14th. No registration required. Kits available as supplies last. Please limit one kit per family!

Spooky Luminaries

Crafternoon - Spooky LuminariesJust in time for Halloween, create some spooky luminaries to light up your front porch! Each participant can make two creepy luminaries and can choose from Frankenstein’s Monster, a Jack-o-Lantern and a Mummy. Wednesday, October 19 at 4:00 PM in the Makerspace. For kids in kindergarten through 2nd grade.

Carved pumpkins

Pumpkin Carving: Join us on Sunday, October 23 at 3:00 PM for some pumpkin carving fun in the Makerspace! Transform a gourd into the perfectly cute or spooky creation - it's up to you. Registration is required (do it here!); one registration per family/group. Ages 12 and up; ages 12-15 must be accompanied by an adult.

Escape Room - Zombies! Can you save the world from the Zombie Insurrection? Register here and join others to see if you can solve the puzzles and save the world. Recommended for ages 8 and up.

There will be four Escape Room sessions. Please register for only one session per person.

Take'n'Bake'n'Shake (With Fear) - Jack'o'Lantern CookiesTake'n'Bake is back for a particularly scary iteration! Scaredy cat bakers need not apply! If you're feeling brave, sign up here to reserve your take-home ingredient bag containing most of the ingredients you'll need to make a batch of grinning Jack'o'Lantern Cookies! Either bake at home on your own time, or tune in on the City of Tualatin's YouTube channel at 9:00 AM on Saturday, October 29 for our how-to video. Each bag contains a special, limited edition 3D printed jack'o'lantern cookie cutter!

Dia de los Muertos

Día de los Muertos: Join us in preparing to celebrate Día de los Muertos. We’ll come together to make altars, marigolds, and play games. Snacks and fun for all ages! Saturday, October 29 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM in the Community Room.

Únase a nosotros en festejo de Día de los Muertos. Nos juntaremos para hacer altares, flores de cempazuchitl de papel y participar en actividades divertidas. ¡Aperitivos y diversión para todas las edades! Venga a festejar con nosotros sábado, 29 de octubre de 2:00 a 4:00 p. m. en el salón comunitario.

Halloween Dance-O-Rama

Halloween Dance-O-Rama: Celebrate Halloween at this action-packed dance fest. We’ll lead kids in some of our favorite dance songs, trick or treat around the library, and have fun sensory stations in the Children’s Room. Monday, October 31 from 10:30 AM to noon. For children ages 0 to 6.
