Mayor's Note (April 2021)
Each year, the City Council gathers with executive staff to review our accomplishments from the year before, reaffirm our vision, and talk through our top issues for the year to come. We call it our Council Advance (instead of a retreat) because we are always moving forward.
Over two days, we discovered significant alignment between councilors and between councilors and staff about our vision for the future and our priorities for this year. Things like the environment, the economy, and our transportation system remained high on the list. After the year we had, we thought it prudent to add a section on crisis preparedness.
When we meet in person, each city councilor has a laminated printout of the vision and priorities placed in front of them for each meeting. Thus, we keep our vision and priorities at the forefront of every action and decision we make as a council.
Check out our City Council Vision & Priorities webpage to see the full vision and 2021 list of priorities.
I hope that you'll also make time to attend our virtual State of the City address on May 12, where we'll recap many of the projects and achievements from the past year. There won't be lunch served, but I promise it will be worth it!
