Mayor's Note December 2024
Winter Wellness and Our Snow and Ice Response Plan
As we enter the winter season, I encourage all residents to stay prepared and prioritize winter wellness—keeping safe, warm, and mindful of potential winter hazards like icy sidewalks and driveways. The City has a Snow and Ice Response Plan to ensure safe travel and maintain emergency services during snowstorms and freezing temperatures.
This plan organizes efforts to clear snow and ice, prioritizing the most critical routes first. While we cannot remove all snow and ice at once, we focus on the following priorities:
- Emergency Routes
- Selected Arterials and Collector Streets
- Collector Streets
- Residential/Other (Residential streets are cleared only when snow accumulation reaches 12 inches)
*Please note that private streets are not the responsibility of the City.
If you’d like to learn more about how we manage snow and ice removal, or if you have any specific questions, please take a moment to review the full Snow and Ice Response Plan here.
If you need a place to get cozy, join us at the Library or Juanita Pohl Center during our open hours. Both spaces operate as a warming shelter on cold days. Let’s work together to ensure a safe, healthy winter season for all. Stay warm, stay safe, enjoy the season!
