Mayor's Note (June 2022)

Mayor Frank Bubenik

Last year, the City Council made the call to pursue a Climate Action Plan for our community. In January of this year, we hired a consultant to help us draft the plan, and over the last few months, they have been working on a greenhouse gas inventory so that we know more about our local conditions. The project team will present an update on their work and a localized overview of climate change at our next City Council meeting on June 13th. All of this is gearing up for their next few months of work, which will be to engage the community. The goal is for the solutions proposed in the plan to be responsive to science and meet our community's needs. Therefore, hearing from community members is essential to drafting the plan.

I invite you to visit the webpage to sign up for updates so that you can track progress and share your experiences and ideas. One of the City Council's vision statements reads, "We envision an environmentally active, sustainable, responsible, and forward-thinking community that values and protects our natural resources, inhabitants, and habitat." This plan is crucial to achieving that vision.
