Mayor's Note (October 2023)
As part of our annual budget process last Spring, the City Council approved funding to create a program that will provide financial assistance to low-income residents on their monthly utility bills. Currently, rate payers can repay overdue utility bills on a payment plan, but there is no program that will provide forgiveness or ongoing financial assistance.
In September, City staff updated the City Council on the program’s development. Community Action of Washington County has agreed to facilitate the program and is putting together a specific proposal for our review. We anticipate the program will be up-and-running in the next few months and encourage you to look out for additional information.
