BSA Eagle and GS Gold Award Projects

The City of Tualatin offers a variety of projects for BSA Eagle Scout and GS Silver & Gold Award. These projects are designed to allow you to demonstrate your leadership and project management skills you have learned through the scouting years.

  1. Choose one of the available projects listed below.
  2. Review and complete the City of Tualatin Eagle & Gold Award Application Packet.

Scout Projects 2025 

 

Project Site:  Tualatin River Greenway Trail

Project Being Completed by: Available

Project objective:  Several concrete cast art pieces (bone artifact replicas) along the trail have been damaged.  The City has the molds to these pieces and would like to replace the damaged art with new casts and have spare casts for the future. Your project would be to make 6 concrete replacement art pieces.

 

Project Site: Brown's Ferry Park

Project being completed by:  Available

Project objective:   The split rail fence on Nyberg Lane at the edge of the pond has deteriorated and needs repair and replacement.  Your project includes fence assessment, procuring materials and rebuilding the fence.

 

Project Site:  Jurgens Park

Project being completed by:  Available

Project Objective(s): Split rail fence at the back of the park has been compromised by dry rot and shrinkage. Posts need to be replaced / repaired.  Cross rails need to be evaluated for replacement or repair.

  

Project site:  Venetian Trail 

Project being completed by:  Available

Project Objective:  Two sets of stairs lead to the Venetian Trail on Port Orford Street.  The stairs need new tread applied.  The project includes research on new durable tread replacements, removal of old tread and installation of new tread.

 

Project Site:  City Services / Community Events

Project being completed by:  Available

Project Objective:  Build a wooden structure with a stand to be used as a photo opportunity at the Pumpkin Regatta.  Use the template provided by the City to construct and paint a safe structure for the public to use during the event.  The structure must fold flat for storage and be built to last for many years.

 

Project Site: Tualatin Community Park

Project being completed by:  Available

Project Objective(s): Guardrail between the playground and the boat launch needs replacement due to dry rot and aging. The City will remove the guardrail.  Your project would be to replace the guardrail as originally designed.  This includes setting main posts in concrete and building the fence to last 20 years.  

 

Project Site: Jurgens Park split rail fence

Project Objective(s): Split rail fence at playground has been compromised by dry rot and shrinkage. Posts need to be replaced / repaired.  Cross rails need to be evaluated for replacement or repair.  

 

Project Site: Jurgens Park split rail fence

Project Objective(s): Split rail fence at playground has been compromised by dry rot and shrinkage. Posts need to be replaced / repaired.  Cross rails need to be evaluated for replacement or repair.  

 

Project Site:  Atfalati Park 

Project being completed by:  Available

Project Objective(s):  Three benches at Atfalati Park have been compromised with dry rot and mildew.  Several boards need to be specially milled and replaced.  Sanding, woodworking and refinishing are all part of this project.  Metal brackets need to be repainted and the concrete cleaned. 

 

Project:  Commons Lake Benches

Project being completed by:  Greyson Richard

Project objective(s):  The teak benches need cleaning, light sanding and a finish coat.  This is a two day project, one day for cleaning and sanding with time to dry before applying the sealant.       

 

Project Site:  Atfalati Park 

Project being completed by:  Spencer Tsai

Project Objective(s):   The concrete wall behind the baseball field has some chips and cracks where the concrete meets the metal fence posts.  Patching the compromised concrete and painting the wall are the components of this project.

 

Project Site:  Sweek Pond Trail | Heritage Center Fence

Project completed by:  Heather Manti

Project Objective(s):  Split rail fence on the south side of the Tualatin Heritage Center has been compromised by dry rot and shrinkage.  8 posts and some railings need to be replaced.  

 

Project Site:  Jurgens Park Benches 

Project completed by:  Ethan Shetler

Project Objective(s):  Two benches at Jurgens Park have been compromised with dry rot and mildew.  Several boards need to be specially milled and replaced.  Sanding, woodworking and refinishing are all part of this project.  Metal brackets need to be repainted and the concrete cleaned. There is an additional landscaping project attached to this project.

 

Project Site:  Chieftain / Dakota Greenway Trail Repair

Project completed by:  Jonah Adamson

Project Objective(s):  The asphalt trail at the Chieftain/Dakota has been lifted and broken up by Cottonwood tree roots.  60 feet of asphalt needs to be removed, roots pruned and gravel installed and compacted.  An additional 200 feet of gravel trail edging needs to be installed and compacted.
