ADA Transition Plan

City Offices Accessible Entrance

The City of Tualatin adopted the ADA Transition Plan in 2018. The Transition Plan meets the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) to identify barriers to access in our facilities, programs and services. The plan includes a self-evaluation of our programs and facilities and provides a transition schedule for removing those barriers.

ADA Task Force

The  ADA Task Force includes nine people who are members of the disability community, or who use or help others use our accessible facilities.  Task Force members were appointed by the Tualatin City Council on August 14, 2017. The Task Force met 3 times during the ADA Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan process, and may meet in the future to help the City in the implementation of the Plan.

The Task Force members were asked to share their opinions and experiences related to City facilities, programs, and services as they relate to the ADA. The ADA Task Force’s purpose is to:

  • spread the word about the Plan to members and partners of the disabilities community
  • provide insights during the barrier prioritization process
  • review the draft Transition Plan and
  • provide input on how to make its facilities, programs and services accessible to all people in Tualatin

ADA Task Force Meeting #1 took place on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at 6:30 pm at the Tualatin Police Station at 8650 SW Tualatin Road.

ADA Task Force Meeting #2 took place on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at 6:30 pm at the Tualatin Library Community Room at 18878 SW Martinazzi Ave.

ADA Task Force Meeting #3 took place on Monday, March 19, 2018 at 6:30 pm at the Tualatin Library Community Room at 18878 SW Martinazzi Ave.

Project Phases

The transition plan project began in May 2017 and concluded in the summer of 2018. The consultant team evaluated city buildings and facilities, park facilities, rights-of-way (sidewalks, crosswalks, curbs) and city programs, policies and activities, and the ADA Task Force discussed those elements. The team prepared the draft ADA Transition Plan for public comment, which was open during the spring of 2018. The Tualatin City Council adopted the final Plan on September 10, 2018.
