Better Know a Permit: Building
Nothing makes one happier than the touch, feel, or smell of a newly completed home improvement project. The kitchen remodel, a plumbing upgrade, HVAC installation, or new addition, are given a stamp of approval through the building permit process.
To ensure that all work was completed safely, Tualatin’s Building Department administers multiple types of building codes, such as plumbing, mechanical, and structural. Washington County administers electrical permits. All of these are adopted at the state (Building Codes Division) or national-level (International Building Code). The Building Codes Division (BCD), is located under the Department of Consumer and Business Services and has an excellent website with copies of the specific codes to inform project design and construction.
If you are thinking about a remodel of your home or business please visit the Tualatin Building Department’s webpage or call us at (503) 691-3044 with your questions today!
