E-Bicyclist Dies in Crash
On Wednesday, October 2, 2024, Tualatin Police responded to a report of an e-bicyclist found deceased by a passerby on the side of SW 124th Avenue, near SW Myslony Street, in Tualatin.
When police arrived, they found what appeared to be an adult male laying on the ground near a tree, with an e-bike nearby. It was later determined the e-bicyclist was a sophomore at Tigard High School.
Washington County CART and Tigard Police assisted with the investigation. Southbound SW 124th Avenue, between SW Myslony Street and SW Tualatin-Sherwood Road, was closed for approximately two hours during that time.
As a result of their investigation, officers determined that the e-bicyclist may have lost control of the e-bike, which led to him hitting the curb and then a tree. E-bikes are capable of traveling at speeds up to 35 mph. The e-bicyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. There is no indication any other vehicles were involved.
