Patrol K9

Tualatin Police Department utilizes a human detection canine named Boone. He is a German Shepherd, born in Slovakia, who first came to us when he was 22 months old, in August 2024. Officer Eli Fults is assigned as the department's patrol K9 handler and he and Boone work an assigned shift, but also remain on-call to assist all patrol shifts in Tualatin, as well as other neighboring police agencies.
Officer Fults and K9 Boone completed and passed the 360 hour basic patrol dog school in December 2024. They certified as a Patrol Dog Team through the Oregon Police Canine Association on December 2, 2024.
K9 Boone's primary function will be to augment patrol as a locating tool through the detection of human odor, which includes humans and articles humans have touched.
