Garbage Regulations

Scattering Rubbish

No person shall deposit upon public or private property any kind of rubbish, trash, debris, refuse or any substance that would mar the appearance, create a stench or fire hazard, detract from the cleanliness or safety of the property, or would be likely to injure a person, animal or vehicle traveling upon a public way (TMC 6-4-100).

 

Rental Property Owners

The property shall be free from any accumulation of rubbish or garbage or appliances. Approved containers for rubbish and garbage shall be provided by the owner. All residential rental owners will ensure that tenants have trash service within 14 days of occupying the rental property. Rubbish, garbage, recycle and yard debris containers may be placed on the street for pick-up no sooner than 24 hours before pick-up and shall be removed within 24 hours after pick-up (TMC 6-13-040(10)(a)). Junk

No person shall keep any junk outdoors on any street, lot or premises, or in a building that is not wholly or entirely enclosed, except doors used for ingress and egress. The term "junk" as used in this section includes all old motor vehicles, old motor vehicle parts, abandoned automobiles, old machinery, old machinery parts, old appliances or parts thereof, old iron or other metal, glass, paper or discarded material. This does not apply to junk kept in a duly licensed junkyard or automobile wrecking house (TMC 6-04-150).

 

Local Trash & Recycling Service

Trash service, yard debris, recycling and drop boxes are available through Republic Services. The City of Tualatin, in partnership with Republic Services and Grimm’s Fuel Company, offers semi-annual, free drop-off days for yard debris and bulky waste. If you need to store a dumpster on the street for more than 3 days it will require a Storage on the Street Permit (see permit application below) (TMC 8-01-280).
