Garage Sale Rules
Number of Sales
Four garage sales are allowed per year on a residential property (TMC 9-05-020).
Hours
Operating hours must be during daylight hours for no more than three consecutive days (TMC 9-05-030).
Signs
Only the following specified signs may be displayed in relation to a pending garage sale:
- Two signs of not more than six square feet shall be permitted to be displayed on the property of the residence or location where the garage sale is being conducted;
- Two signs of not more than three square feet each are permitted, provided written permission to erect the signs is received from the property owners upon whose property such signs are to be placed;
- None of these signs shall be placed in a public right-of-way;
- No sign or other form of advertising shall be exhibited for more than two days prior to the day such sale is to commence;
- All signs must be removed within 24 hours of the termination of the garage sale (TMC 9-05-050).
All signs must remain on private property with owner's permission and not in the right-of-way, intersections, on utility poles or street signs. See Temporary Sign Regulations for more information.
