Transportation Planning & Policy

Transportation planning and policy helps the community by guiding development and bringing needed transportation services to our city.
With Tualatin's regional location and composition as a major employer, transportation impacts the quality of life for all Tualatin residents. Due to the complexity of this topic (see Transportation Planning and Funding map) and depth of importance in the community, aspects of transportation are shared between Community Development and Public Works. The following describes the breakdown:
Planning and Policy (Community Development)
- Transportation Systems Plan (comprehensive transportation plan)
- Tualatin Development Code: Chapter 11 (transportation regulations and requirements)
- Concept land use plans (Basalt Creek Area Plan and Southwest Concept Plan)
- Coordination with state (Transportation and Land Conservation and Development), regional (Metro, TriMet, and Ride Connection), and county (Washington and Clackamas) agencies
- Coordination with other department long-range plans (e.g. Parks and Recreation Master Plan)
Maintenance, Service, Design, and Construction (Community Development and Public Works)
- Implementing the transportation bond funding (Tualatin Moving Forward) or other publicly funded projects (e.g. Boones Ferry Corridor)
- Road maintenance
- Traffic signal or street light maintenance
- Street sweeping and snow/ice removal
- Preparing and responding to a flood
