We're Fixing This!
After two years of community engagement and engineering studies, we are excited to announce the final list of transportation improvements set for the Boones Ferry Corridor Sidewalk and Bike Lane Project. This project will complete continuous sidewalks and bike lanes along Boones Ferry Road, from Tualatin-Sherwood Road south to Norwood Road.
These improvements along a 3-mile-long stretch of Boones Ferry Road also include new pedestrian-activated flashing beacons and crosswalks, curb extensions, reconstructing curb ramps to meet standards for accessibility, and bus stop improvements.
This high-priority project responds to dozens of requests and complaints in recent years from Tualatin residents. The total project cost is estimated at $7 million. “This investment in filling the gaps along this important route will make it easier and safer for people to walk and bike” says program director Mike McCarthy, PE.
Much of the project will be constructed in 2022, starting this summer. A few elements at the northern end of the corridor, and near Avery Street, will be built in 2023. The entire project will be complete by the end of 2023.
Funds to construct the new Boones Ferry Corridor improvements projects come from the Tualatin Moving Forward bond program approved by Tualatin voters in May 2018. Twenty projects have already been completed in this citywide program, and another 14 are underway.
