April 12, 2014, Put Down Roots in Tualatin, Arbor Day
ARBOR DAY!
Creating community and celebrating trees!
Saturday, April 12, 2014, 80 volunteers planted 1,000 native trees and shrubs at the north end of Tualatin Community Park. Volunteers came from Tualatin High School biology classes, Girl Scout and Boy Scout troops, the Edwards Center and the community of Tualatin.
Mayor Lou Ogden planted the City’s 2014 Heritage tree, a George Washington Tulip Poplar, with the help of Girl Scout Troop 45499.
The environmental education game “We All Need Trees” made a debut thanks to a grant from Oregon Community Trees. The game was created by naturalist, Elaine Murphy and staffed by Tualatin High School students.
