May 7-8, 2015
Tualatin High School Biology Students Impact Stream and Forest Health
· 460 students improved the water quality facility as a hands-on experience based on their biology STEM curriculum.
· 250 native trees and shrubs were planted to provide soil stabilization, biodiversity and stream shade. Students practiced plant identification, planting methods and invasive removal techniques.
· 15 yards of invasive Himalayan blackberry, Reed canary grass and English ivy were removed.
· 7 yards of mulch was added to new and existing plants.
Thanks to the teaching staff, Ms. Perry, Mr. Rott, Mr. Myers, and Mr. White, who have the vision to grow student experience through community service!
