Visit Our Black History Month Display
To recognize Black History Month, we invite you to visit the Library and check-out our Black History Month display which highlights the achievements and contributions of African American scientists and medical pioneers. Among others, the display will include facts about Edith Irby Jones who was elected as the first female president of the National Medical Association in 1985 and Charles Henry Turner who was a pioneer of animal psychology and behavior in the late 1890s.
The display was developed by Friends of the Library Volunteer and 2019 Volunteer of the Year Kay Kendall and Volunteer Coordinator Margaret Gunther and will be up February 7 – 28. We invite you to discover the many life-changing scientific and medical contributions of our African American communities.
