Fences and Retaining Walls
Construction and placement of fences and retaining walls in Tualatin are regulated by the Tualatin Municode Ordinance 1481-23.
Permits are required for the following for both residential (ORSC R101.2.2) and commercial (OSSC 101.2.1) applications:

Fences other than swimming pool barriers over seven feet in height

Retaining Walls greater than four feet in height measured from the bottom of the footing to the top of the wall, or where the retaining wall supports a nonsoil surcharge.
Fences are also required to be located outside of the public right-of-way and the vision clearance area. Fences constructed as part of commercial or industrial development may be subject to Architectural Review.
Masonry walls are required for new development on access-restricted lots in the RL and RML zones, as well as for partitions and subdivisions in the RL and RML zones.
