Trees, Bees, and Earth Day
Earth Day is an annual event on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. In Tualatin, we are committed to a healthy environment and have been a Tree City, USA for 35 years and a Bee City, USA for two.
What does it take to achieve these titles? We have programs and policies in place that meet the goals of growing a healthy urban forest canopy and that provide plant diversity to enhance pollinator habitat. Our Street Tree Program is dedicated to trees and many of our staff and volunteers help with plantings and maintenance of greenspaces to protect our trees and bees all year long.
What can you do on Earth Day and beyond?
- Plant native trees, shrubs and pollinator friendly species in your yard.
- Volunteer to plant trees and remove invasive plants with one of our volunteer programs.
- Check out local organizations dedicated to trees and bees and get involved.
