Tualatin Tomorrow Community Education Forum Speakers:

 

Karen Twain

Tigard-Tualatin School District

Karen Twain has work in TTSD since 1986.  She started at Fowler Middle School as a special educator and moved to Tigard High School in the same capacity.  She then served as a school counselor at Tigard High School, Tualatin High School and Charles F. Tigard Elementary School.  Over the years, she has coached basketball, volleyball, track, and softball throughout the school district.  Karen started her administrative career as a Curriculum Vice-Principal at Tualatin High School.  She then became Principal at Durham Elementary and then the Principal at Metzger Elementary.  The last few years, she has served as Director of Alternative Programs for the District.  She started the Tigard -Tualatin Online Academy (TTOA) last year which has grown from 20 to 150 students.  Karen was the chair for the state for the full day kindergarten committee that enacted legislation for all students in the state to receive full day kindergarten.  She has also been active in other state education issues.

Linda Gerber

Portland Community College

Dr. Linda Gerber is President of Portland Community College’s Sylvania Campus, the college's first and largest campus.  As campus president, she oversees the instruction and student services for over 30,000 students each year.  In addition to ensuring that students receive the courses they need to transfer to four year colleges and universities, her campus offers Health Professions, Engineering, Machine Tool Technology, Graphic and Interior Design, Architectural Technology and Automotive Maintenance and Technology Programs. She formerly served as Executive Dean of Instruction at Mt. Hood Community College, and during her ten years there also served as Dean of the Language and Literature Division.  She serves on the boards of directors of Neighborhood House and Northwest Earth Institute, and serves on the Governor’s Oregon Green Jobs Council since 2009.

Lita Colligan

Oregon Institute of Technology

Lita Colligan is Associate Vice President for Strategic Partnerships and Government Relations at the Oregon Institute of Technology, Oregon’s statewide, public, polytechnic university.  Lita is responsible for building partnerships between the university and industry to ensure that students are prepared for real-world jobs. Lita also leads Oregon Tech’s government affairs work in Salem. 

Prior to joining Oregon Tech in 2007, Lita was Oregon Governor Kulongoski’s Workforce Policy Advisor.  Ms. Colligan's primary responsibility was developing policies and programs to fulfill the Governor’s vision to increase access to high-quality education and skills training to drive Oregon’s economic growth.  She focused primarily on the manufacturing, healthcare and renewable energy industries.  For fun, Lita is a hiker, gardener, bicyclist, and photographer.  The best part of her current job is working with amazing and innovative students and faculty at the new Oregon Tech Wilsonville Campus.

Trish Hennon

Precision Wire Components

Trish Hennon is the Vice President of Human Resources at Precision Wire Components. Trish Hennon directs all human resource, training  and safety activities for Precision Wire Components, a Tualatin based medical device component manufacturer. In addition, she  oversees the company’s HR related functions at PWC’s San Jose, Costa Rica facility and  is a member of PWC’s senior management team.  PWC employs 680 employees worldwide. She has 12  years of medical device industry experience and is a member of SHRM.  Before joining PWC, Trish was an HR generalist in the retail clothing industry and holds a B.A. in Social Science from the University of California at Berkeley.

Jay Anderson

Horizon Christian Schools

Jay Anderson is in his fourth year of service as Superintendent of Horizon Christian Schools after serving his first year with us as Assistant Superintendent. Prior to coming to Horizon he was involved in youth and associate ministry, serving local churches in Salem, Tualatin, and Dallas. Jay served as the District Youth Director for the Oregon Ministry Network (Assemblies of God) for over ten years, developing and directing youth camps, conventions, fine arts festivals and missions trips. This position also entailed leadership and resource development for both students and youth leaders.
Jay received his BA from Northwest University in Kirkland, Washington with a specialized degree in Youth Ministries. He earned his MA from the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary with a focus in Christian Ministries and Leadership. He is also an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God.

Jay and his wife Stacie recently celebrated 19 years of marriage together. They have two boys, Kyle and Calvin, who both attend Horizon Christian High School.

Bob Hanks

PCC CLIMB Center for Advancement

Bob Hanks is the Executive Director for the PCC CLIMB Center for Advancement, providing overall leadership for CLIMB’s programs:

Bob holds an MBA from George Fox University and has more than 25 years of experience in management, education, training and consulting. Previously, he worked at Marylhurst University, where he oversaw the MBA, Undergraduate Business, Online Business and Real Estate Degree Programs. Bob currently serves on the board for the Portland Central Eastside Industrial Council and is a member of the Clackamas County Economic Development Commission, the Strategic Economic Development Corporation, and several other chamber, business and community organizations.
