Recap of Fall Clean Up Events
Once again, the City of Tualatin and Republic Services, Willamette Resources, Metro and Grimm’s Fuel, worked cooperatively in sponsoring this year’s events.
The Bulky Waste event was held on October 25 and the Yard Debris Drop Off was held on November 15.
These events are both held twice annually and are highly attended by our residents. These events allow the residents to rid themselves of bulky items that don’t fit into the curbside containers for recycling.
This fall’s clean up event at Republic Services brought in 122 vehicles who dropped off nearly 23 tons of bulky materials. Of the 23 tons, 47% was able to be sorted and recycled. These residents generously brought with them 560 pounds of food for the Tualatin School Pantry!
This year’s fall Yard Debris Drop-Off Day was held on Saturday, November 15 and residents dropped off 98 yards of debris, as well as bringing 300 pounds of donations for the food pantry.
The Tualatin School House Pantry, as part of the Oregon Food Bank, shares in the mission to eliminate hunger and its root causes because they believe that no one should go hungry. They operate with a volunteer staff that is dedicated to serving others. The Tualatin School House Pantry serves residents of Tualatin, Durham, Lake Oswego, and West Linn. These clean up events are truly a win-win situation since our residents are able to recycle as well as supporting this very worthy cause. The staff at the Food Pantry is very appreciative of the support of the residents of Tualatin for their generosity – Great job, keep up the good work Tualatin residents!
