"Tree for a Fee" Program
Property owners who have removed a street tree on their own and don't qualify for a free replacement tree should consider the "Tree for a Fee" program. Effective August 1, 2015, for only $75.00, city personnel will plant and stake a street in your planter strip. The old tree stump and roots must be removed by the property owner before the new tree can be planted. City crews and contractors will begin planting "Tree for a Fee" trees in February of each year and continue through mid-April.
Call 503-691-3085 or email Tom Steiger to register for a "Tree for a Fee" replacement tree. Requests will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
We will check availability of stock, as it changes from day-to-day, but first choices may not always be available, so a second and third alternative should be chosen. Once availability has been established, the homeowner will be notified and a staff member will mark the curb with white paint to indicate where the tree or trees will be planted.
If this is a replacement tree, the old tree stump and roots must be removed by the property owner before the new tree can be planted.
