Citizen Science Month
April is Citizen Science Month, and Tualatin Public Library will be overing a whole bunch of STEAM-focused activities!

Sunday, April 6: STEAM Storytime
10:30 - 11:30 a.m
Join us for engaging stories and hands-on activities that explore science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM). April will feature: SIMPLE MACHINES!
For kids ages 3-6. Held in the Community Room.

Monday, April 7: Suburban Ecology
4:00 - 5:00 p.m.
Explore the Ice Age Trail, collect samples, and learn about what things - both living and inert - make up the ecosystem of Tualatin.
For children in grades 1-5. Registration is required. (Register here) Meets in the Community Room.
This program is made possible in part by the Public Library Innovative Exchange (PLIX). Our STEAM Librarian, Kit, is one of 12 PLIX ambassadors nationwide this year. PLIX is deeply committed to supporting diverse community bonds through thoughtfully facilitated creative learning experiences and lifelong learning. For more information visit https://plix.mit.edu/.

Tuesday, April 15: Noise in Your Neighborhood
6:30 - 7:30 p.m.
Your mission is simple: Find a Noise Refuge in your neighborhood! Use the Noise Project Decibel Meter App on your smartphone to track the noise levels of your neighborhood. Map your noise data to the app’s community map so you and your neighbors can find some peace and quiet!
Come hear about how you can help map out the noise in your neighborhood and how you can contribute to Citizen Science.
For participants of school age and up. Held in the Community Room.

Monday, April 28: Binary Art:How Code can Translate into Masterpieces
4:00 - 5:00 p.m.
Binary code might sound like a complicated computer language filled with zeros and ones, but it can also be a fun way to create art! This special code can be turned into beautiful designs that hide messages for those who know how to read it. Join us as we dive into how you can use binary to make your own unique art!
For students in grades K-5. Registration is required (do it here). Held in the Community Room.
