Discovery Kits
Discovery Kits are now available for checkout at the Tualatin Public Library!
Discovery Kits are grab-and-go totes that include books for both adults and kids along with hands-on equipment to allow learning about a specific subject.
The following kits are available for checkout at the Tualatin Library:
- Ice Age Kit - contains books about Ice Age geology, mammoths, and mastodons, plus a driving guide and a mastodon puzzle
- Wildflowers Kit - contains books, a pocket guide, and a flower press
- Birdwatching Kit - contains books, a pocket guide, a bird song CD collection, and binoculars
- Trees & Plants Kit - contains books, a pocket guide, and a tree height gauge
- Bug & Butterflies Kit - contains books, pocket guides, and a bug viewer
- Rhythm Kit - contains books, a practice pad, drumsticks, a metronome, and shakers
- Rocks & Minerals Kit - contains books, pocket guides, and a rock and mineral test kit
- Pacific Northwest Animals Kit - contains books, a pocket guide, and an animal track rubbing kit
Discovery Kits check out for 3 weeks and are renewable if no one is waiting. Patrons from any WCCLS library can place a hold, but the kits must be picked up and returned at the Tualatin Library. The kits are considered Juvenile materials and are fine-free.
You can find the Discovery Kits with the Library of Things. Please let library staff know if you have any questions about Discovery Kits, including placing a hold on them.
