Tualatin Science and Technology Scholarship
Future scientists are invited to apply for a Tualatin Science and Technology Scholarship!
The City of Tualatin awards scholarships to high school seniors and current college students who lived in Tualatin, will attend an Oregon four-year college or university, and are pursuing a career in science, engineering, technology, or a related field.
The City will offer one $1,500 scholarship for the 2025-26 academic year.
Pictured is Kelly Tejeda Castellanos, the winner of the 2023-24 Tualatin Science and Technology Scholarship. Karys Gates and Miguel Angel-Aguilar were the recipients of the 2024-25 scholarship, each receiving $500. Karys is studying nursing at George Fox University, and Miguel is studying mechanical engineering at Portland State University.
How to Apply
Eligibility
- Open to current high school seniors or college students
- You must have been a resident of Tualatin during your senior year of high school, and
- Graduated or eligible to graduate from high school
- Majoring in or intending to major in science, technology, engineering, medicine, or a related field
- Aiming to enroll full-time in a college or university in Oregon
Application requirements
- Application form and personal statement
- A letter of recommendation from a teacher
- A letter of recommendation from someone other than a teacher
- School transcripts for the past three years and this year to date

Scholarship applications will be reviewed by a committee consisting of three members: 1) a Tualatin City Council member, 2) a member of the Tigard-Tualatin School District board, and 3) a representative of the Tualatin Chamber of Commerce.
Originally known as the Oki Semiconductor Tualatin Educational Scholarship, the program has awarded more than 60 scholarships totaling more than $70,000 since it was established in 1990. The goal of the scholarship trust is to promote higher education in scientific fields by making possible educational opportunities to Tualatin students.
Applications must be complete and submitted to Tualatin Public Library by 6 pm, April 30, 2025. Postmarks do not qualify.
