Blondie Bars recipe
Watch the how-to video for this recipe or return to the Online Programs Archive.
Ingredients
- 16 tablespoons (2 sticks) unsalted butter
- 2 cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon flaky sea salt, or ½ teaspoon coarse sea salt
- 2 cup (130 grams) all-purpose flour
- 2-3 cups mix-ins of you choice (2 cups of semi-sweet chocolate chips will be included. Other good options would be toasted nuts, chopped up candy bars, caramels, etc.)
Instructions
Step 1
Heat oven to 350°F. Butter a 9×13-inch baking pan, or line the bottom and two sides of one with parchment paper.
Step 2
Melt butter in a small saucepan, stirring occasionally, until it has a becomes slightly browned. Pour into a large bowl and whisk in sugar until smooth. Rest a few minutes until it's room temperature, then whisk in egg, vanilla, and sea salt. Stir in flour and additions of your choice.
Step 3
Scrape into prepared pan and smooth with spatula. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until lightly browned at edges. This will yield a slightly gooier bar. Let blondies cool in the pan, or wait 10 minutes and then use the parchment paper to slide them onto a cutting board. Cut into 16 or more squares.
