Tualatin Commons Plan
Background
Tualatin Commons is the result of a public/private partnership starting in the early 1990s that began to create an identifiable downtown in Tualatin. This 19-acre site in the town center was the site of a smelly pet food factory fronting on a major road. The City dedicated the Commons on May 20, 1994.
Summary
The Tualatin Commons includes:
- 3-acre artificial lake
- wide public promenade
- plazas
- interactive fountain
Seven parcels have been privately developed around the lake, bringing in uses that wouldn't have located in a suburban town center without a public amenity such as the Lake of the Commons:
- hotel
- apartments and condos
- Class A commercial offices
- restaurants
Central Design District
The Tualatin Commons is the majority of the area within the Central Design District. Refer to the Tualatin Development Code (TDC) for more information:
Public Parking
For info about the five public parking lots in and near the Tualatin Commons, refer to the Core Area Parking District webpage.
