Jurgens Park
Jurgens Park, a 12.15 acre active park located at 17255 SW Jurgens Avenue in Tualatin, opened to the public in 2000.
Where did the name Jurgens Park originate? A historical theme has been used in naming Atfalati, Ibach and Brown's Ferry Park to create awareness of the heritage of the Tualatin area. Jurgens Park followed this important historical theme. In the 1860's William and Rosa Jurgens operated a potato farm on a portion of the park land parcels. These parcels were subsequently designated as a Century Farm by the Oregon Historical Society. In the 1930's and 1940's John Jurgens operated one of six other Tualatin River Parks just downstream from the current park site. The actual Jurgens River Park was located near the present Tualatin Country Club.
Jurgens Park today is an oasis of neighborhood activity and team sports, offering a unique forest-themed playground installed in March of 2024 with funds from the Parks & Trails Bond. The park also offers sand play, picnic areas, ball fields, open grass play areas, wetlands restoration area, walking trails, tennis and basketball courts. Ball fields are available for reservation through the Parks & Recreation Department at 503-691-3061 or in person at 8513 SW Tualatin Road during normal business hours.
Jurgens Park has picnic shelters available for smaller parties although they are not reservable. They are a first-come, first-serve type of picnic shelter. For reservable and/or larger picnic shelter options, please see the Tualatin Community Park page. For extra-large events or special circumstances at any of our parks, a Special Event Permit may be required - please call The Parks and Recreation Department for more information.
For the most current updates on projects, closures and announcements about this park please visit the Parks & Recreation Updates & Announcements page.
