Teaching the Spirit of Giving Part 1
Tualatin Police Officers had the joy of teaching Kindergartners the spirit of giving when we paid a visit to Tualatin Elementary School to let each of them choose a stuffed animal to take home. Throughout the year the police department collects donations of stuffed animals from generous citizens, so that we can give back to less fortunate children during the holidays. This past year we received such an overwhelming amount of stuffed animals that we decided to gift some of them to each of the Kindergartners as a way of teaching them what it means to give to others during the holidays. It was very heartwarming to see some of these children choose a stuffed animal, not for themselves, but for their younger sibling. That is the true spirit of giving through a young child's heart!
