Pedestrian Nearly Hit by DUII Driver
On Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at approximately 12:50pm, Tualatin Police Officers responded to a crash on SW Martinazzi Avenue, near the entrance to Fred Meyer in Tualatin.
Witnesses reported that the driver of an oversized, red, 1975 GMC truck was driving recklessly and crashed into another vehicle. The driver was identified as Kevin D. Ritchie, 24 years of age, of Portland.
According to witness accounts, Mr. Ritchie had driven up onto the curb near the round-about on SW Avery Street and 86th Avenue, where his vehicle struck and damaged a city-owned road sign.
Witnesses also reported that Mr. Ritchie failed to stop for the red light at the intersection of SW Martinazzi Avenue and SW Warm Springs Street, where he nearly struck a pedestrian with his vehicle.
No injuries were sustained during this incident.
Alcohol or drugs is believed to be a factor. Mr. Ritchie is charged with DUII, Hit and Run, and Reckless Driving and will be lodged at the Washington County Jail.
Anyone with any information regarding this incident or the pedestrian that was nearly hit is asked to contact Tualatin Police Department, 503-691-4800.
