Tualatin Police Looking for Vehicle Pursuit and Hit and Run Suspect
On July 17, 2013 at about 9:45 PM, Tualatin Patrol Officers attempted to stop a 2013 BMW for a minor traffic violation. Upon attempting to stop the vehicle, the vehicle fled from the officers at a high rate of speed. The Tualatin Officers realized the danger of the situation, and based upon the erratic driving of the suspect, terminated their pursuit of the BMW.
The driver continued to drive erratically, for more than a half mile, even after the officers had discontinued their pursuit. The driver of the BMW continued to the intersection of SW Boones Ferry Road and SW Avery Street, where the BMW collided with a Ford F-150 truck in the intersection.
The BMW hit the truck in the intersection, then struck a utility pole, and came to rest against a fence of a residence on the corner of SW Boones Ferry Road and SW Avery Street.
Tualatin Officers came upon on the scene of the crash shortly after it had occurred. Officers found that the driver of the BMW had fled the scene on foot after the crash. The driver of the Ford Truck sustained non-life threatening injuries as a result of the crash. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment, and was released a short time later.
An extensive search for the driver of the BMW was conducted. Officers from the Tigard Police, Sherwood Police, King City Police, and Washington County Sheriff's Office, as well as Police K-9 Officers from the Tigard Police Department, and the Sherwood Police Department assisted in the search. The search efforts were unsuccessful in locating the driver of the BMW. Tualatin Police continue to search for the driver. The driver faces multiple felony charges, including Reckless Driving, Eluding Officers, Hit and Run and Assault.
