Verizon Customers Victims of Fraud
On Thursday, May 5, 2016 at approximately 4:30pm, Tualatin Police responded to a report of a possible fraud at the Verizon Wireless store, located at 7174 SW Hazel Fern Road, in Tualatin.
A store employee reported that a man was attempting to make a purchase of four iPhone 6 Plus phones under someone else’s name and account information. The suspect initially gave police someone else’s name and identification card when asked to identify himself. Police were able to eventually identify the suspect as Estifany Herrera-Cedano, 37 years of age, of New York.
Mr. Herrera-Cedano was arrested and charged with first degree theft and identity theft. During their investigation, Tualatin Police were also able to recover evidence from Mr. Herrera-Cedano that tied him to a similar incident at the Lake Oswego Verizon Wireless store earlier this same date for four additional iPhone 6 Plus phones. Mr. Herrera-Cedano was issued a citation for the crime of first degree theft and identity theft for the crimes at the Lake Oswego location. He was booked into the Washington County Jail on the charges from the Tualatin incident.
